Street art seen on doors in Barcelona Spain, April 2018
below: Vegan bunnies. One releases a caged bird and the other has scissors in her hair.

below: Cat and mouse by Cisco KSL who is also a tattoo artist. The mouse has a couple of vices. I wonder what the cat’s key will unlock?

below: She lives at 202 Carrer de L’Escorial

below: Reaching out

below: A bloody mess, a painting by Sarah Pitel – an American from Portland Oregon.

below: Cats? Cats with very long necks. (Ooops! Not a door).

below: It started with a street art piece by Arte Ignorante of a woman in blue tipping her hat with the girl in red beside her.

below: Handmade in Barcelona, the shoe maker at work, with a line of shoes above.

below: Black and white, two women looking at you.

below: BOB is on the right.

below: Pandora’s box and bright finger nails.

This post is also a “Thursday Doors” blog post. This is a weekly occurrence and a number of bloggers participate. If you are interested in doors in general and want to see more door themed blog posts, here is the link.
Barcelona Spain, April 2018,
pasteups, stickers, stencils and other little pieces of graffiti.
below: The green creature (with Ore on its tail) seems to want to eat the heart. The tiger appears on walls in many Spanish cities although sometimes he’s just a black and white head. He’s the creation of Bloo. Last, an orange crab with eye lashes on one eye.

below: RAF Urban, young boy

below: Another face, this time a woman looking up. She’s not quite obscured by the paint around her.

below: Pointed

below: “Lo importante esta en tu cabeza” on empty cans. As it turns out, this the name of an album by the group La Gran Orquesta Republicana. Rough translation is: The important is in your head.

below: More cans on walls. This time they say “mensajes de amor en tiemps de guerra, mensajes de paz con la mente guerrera”. [messages of love in times of war, messages of peace with the warrior mind]. This can art is the work of an anonymous couple. Many examples of their work can be seen on instagram with the hashtag #llaunesbcn

below: Funny Bone and a little hairy chested, hat wearing, tattooed fellow with love on his tummy (or lower).

below: Güelcom was an Argentinian movie, a romcom from 2011. Because of my poor Spanish as well as the rip in the paper, I can’t tell what the second word is.

below: A black and white paste up.

below: Mowcka “uniendo tus partes” and others

below: Very, very with symmetry, as a red rose lies on the sidewalk.

below: Smile! Anthropomorphic rabbit photographer in blue

… and red

below: somiatruites, Catalan for daydreamer

below: Utility box. JERC = Joventuts d’Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (Young Republican Left of Catalonia). They support independence for Catalonia which is the part of Spain that includes Barcelona.

below: The Hulk. Even he is locked out.

below: Watering can and plant pot faces.

below: Another collection of small paste ups on a wall. There’s that tiger again. A blue unicorn and a very large insect share the upper left corner. That little black and white figure in the bottom left is a flying peanut, a character by Hadsawit that really gets around.

below: The Raven, or at least a large black bird

Carrer de Sevilla is a short street in the Russafa district of Valencia. On the exterior walls of 24 Carrer de Sevilla, an empty building, there is a selection of interesting street art.
below: Across the top of the pasteup on the left it says, “hasta el infinito y mas alla” which equals “to infinite and beyond” – this tribute to David Bowie is by Disneylexya (more below). The black and white woman with 4 eyes is by CKTN aka Chikitin Valencia

below: Detail of the David Bowie tribute pasteup

below: Another 4 eyed woman by CKTN

below: This mural is the work of Vynz + Hyuro. It has been defaced/censored, in the original, the woman on the left is naked. Did someone object to the nudity?

below: Intricately drawn flowers by Lily Mixe .... or is the one on the right a bug?

below: Team work, David de Limón’s black ninja character joins forces with Disneylexya

below: Another disneylexya pasteup creation

Altered signs in Madrid are the mainly the work of two different artists. The first is a local that goes by the name Yipi Yipi Yeah, or YYY for short. The second is Clet Abraham whose work is found in most large European cities. Searching for these signs can make a game out of walking around a city!
below: A YYY sign, “pais apatrida busca asilo” while wearing a Spain T-shirt that says “Spain is different”. The words on the white bar translate to “stateless country seeks asylum”

below: Another Yipi Yipi Yeah sign with a Spanish theme -this time a crowd is cheering as flour black bulls go after other people.

below: A single matador on the crosswalk with his red cloak leading the way.

below: A yield sign becomes cleavage that is barely held together by a couple of pieces of lace.

below: Fishing. The word is perdigon, a young partridge. I’m not sure if it part of YYY’s work.

below: Swinging on the one way sign.

The next few are by Clet Abrahams.
below: A similar sign appears in an earlier post on altered signs in Paris.

below: Skateboarding on Calle de Fucar.

below: Black dog pees against white wall.

below: Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou?

below: Chiselling away at the mouth, an artist at work.

below: Good morning sunshine.

below: There are a few signs that are the work of an unknown person, including this xenofobia stencil.

below: And last, also by an unknown person, are these eyes watching over the street.

other altered sign pages:
Florence,
London,
Paris
I spotted some lovely old cars in Valencia recently.
They were painted on garage doors but they looked very realistic.

Most (all?) of the cars pictured above are all the work of Cabiscol Art
below: One last car, one with less detail, painted by La Nena.

Are You Dead? refers to a large number of graffiti pieces around Valencia Spain with those words on it. Some are shown here (photos from March 2018) along with other street art that was in close proximity.

below: Are you dead on the door, with DEIH in blue.

below: Are you dead on the left and a piece titled Anemia by escif.

below: As well as “are you dead?”, “It’s never too late” and some skulls, all watched over by a purple bull.

More of his work can be seen on his instagram page.
More Denver street art from this past summer.
below: A blue astronaut

There is a lot of street art in Quito. It covers a lot of concrete walls that are part of the city’s infrastructure (supports for elevated roads, walls around buildings, etc). Here is some that I saw in February 2018.
below: Two people, one inside sitting pretty in pink and one outside.

below: A bird in flight. One wing looks like flames while the other wing resembles water. Signed by yo-ho-ho.

below: Many, many faces in pink.

below: Part dragon and part fish?

below: A painting by BEGO

The next few paintings were on a wall surrounding an house that was falling down.

below: This is the last of the photos from the ruined building – note the broken bottles across the top of the wall. That’s very common in Quito… although electric fences seem to be replacing broken glass as a means of keeping trespassers out.

below: Crab (lobster?) hands
‘
below: Laughing and pointing

below: Someone stole an orange cone.

below: Covering his mouth and I don’t think that it’s because he’s coughing.

below: Me

below: Pasteup over his face, a mouse and a mousetrap

below: Another gorgeous bird. Signed by Pagach? (Pagache?)

below: Painted on a rusty metal gate. Reaching for the skull. I am not sure of the words but if it’s “ponte y las alas” that translates to ‘stand and the wings’ but there are more letters. Any ideas anyone? Painted by Aster in 2017.

below: Resiste

below: Graffiti behind the fence

below: Supay Corpus in a residential area.

below: Someone likes to paint underwear, men’s brief to be more specific.

below: A very realistic portrait of an old man with one green eye open.

And last, there were some word stencils….
below: #2mayo and “ecuador ama la vida” which is ‘ecuador, love life’ is now someone’s love note to Mina.

below: “Sigue to corazon & disfruta el viaje” which means “follow your heart and enjoy the trip”.

below: Natura Insurrecta? and “Mineria responsable cuento miserable”. The direct translation for the latter is “mining responsible, tale miserable”.

People in murals and other street art seen in Bristol earlier in 2017.
below: A mural in shades of yellow by tattoo and street artist Sepr (instagram) . These aren’t blackbirds baked in a pie, instead they are blackbirds in a cup and saucer. Let’s have tea!

below: Jesus Break Dance by Cosmo Sarson

below: A large mural of a woman’s face in yellow and black, by Stinkfish, Stokes Croft, 2012

below: The Coat of Arms by Nick Walker

below: On the left is ‘Afrika en la casa’ by Feo Flip (Basura Visual) and on the right is a cracked face by LAIC.

below: Another piece by LAIC. Most of his street art involves distorted faces,

below: Street art by Dr. Love from Tbilisi Georgia, love holds you up. Girl on swing. Red balloons.
