Nô portraits

These six street art portraits by Nô were seen on or near Rue Dénoyez in Belleville, Paris…. an older aboriginal Australia with his decorated boomerang, two young girls looking out for each other, another child, a man in dreadlocks, a green eyed woman in a head scarf, and an indigenous American in a feather head dress.

four Batmans and an old man’s bird

Close to the intersection of Dhirar Bin Al-Azwar street and Moh’d Al-Shurayqi street are two pieces of street art. They have nothing in common except their proximity to each other.

First is a bright mural called “Odin” by Suhaib Attar of a bird on top of an old man’s head. The feathers on the bird meld into the hair of the man’s beard and moustache. Is the bird dead or alive?

Odin is the bearded one-eyed Norse god of is the god of wisdom, poetry, death, divination, and magic. He was often accompanied by two wolves and two ravens.

The other wall features a more modern character, Batman.

Someone has written “quarter life crisis” on the wall. I suspect that it has nothing to do with Batman but I rather like the juxtaposition.

below: I was in Bristol just before the British elections in the spring of 2017. There was quite a few anti-May/Tories and pro -Corbyn/Labour graffiti including this dinosaur themed one.

from Balaclava to the beach

This is a selection of the street art that I saw back in February when I walked from Balaclava station to the beach (Melbourne, Australia).

below: Flying eyeballs and one eyed little green guys wearing glasses adorn the wall of an optometrist’s building along with a scientifically correct (and labelled) cross section of the eye. A great way to advertise your business!
