The previous post, Covering a yellow door, showcased some slaps seen in Baptist Place, a lane in Melbourne. They were created by a variety of artists from a number of different countries. You will find that many of the same artists appear in this post mostly because this post features a different section of Baptist Place. Here the graffiti is Christmas themed (more or less).
below: Holiday sharing – a little Wall Lilo figure is giving a candy to the long nosed elf (by liAXrt). A Stoeyes drawn woman in fur lined blue hat and matching mitts has a red box with wise words written on it – “le chocolat fait rétrécir les jeans” (chocolate makes jeans shrink).
below: This koala is ready for a Christmas party with his festive red hat and a pair of balloons. Another little Wall Lilo figure is dancing on the head of a very stern looking fellow (by Atelier Waladou). Maybe this will put him in the Christmas spirit?
below: Father Christmas, or Jolly Old St. Nick, in a long blue robe, by liAXrt as well as more candies! As to why Father Christmas carries a staff with a skull on it, anyone have any ideas?
below: A bird by Darwinagain in red, white, and blue, atop a happy Christmas tree. Dreaming pleasant dreams beside the tree are two sleeping girls – perhaps dreams of sugar plum fairies or of a red-nosed reindeer leading a sled through the winter sky. (Girls are by Belaets)
below: A kangaroo with a red hat also wants to join the party.
below: A cute little yellow creature with a tall blue and white striped hat riding bareback on a brown animal with antlers (by Nevoul Art)
below: That’s quite a big bubble that she’s blowing!
below: Two little elf feet poke out from under the tree (is it a tree? or an elf in a costume?). This furry squirrel not has has a festive red Santa hat and a lot of balloons, but he’s also wearing the cutest little Christmas booties! (by Tweet). And there’s the Grinch too!
below: Merry Pokemon Christmas! .. and a skull, for some reason, by Loui Jover.
below: A blue butterfly tattoo, also by Loui Jover
In Melbourne’s Baptist Place there is/was a collection of stickers and paste-ups by a very international group of artists.
below: This is the door as seen in February 2025. It may look different now!
A closer look at some of the stickers and paste-ups……
below: Mama yellow rubber ducky and her four little ones with lots of balloons – and one little ducky is wearing black swim goggles. These yellow adventurers can be found in lots of places, especially in France which is the home of their creator, Canards Vagabonds aka Sylvie Gennerat.
below: A Wonder Woman figure by Little Meh as well as a DJ Gumba dude holding 2 black balloons. One of the balloons says “pretty cool”. On the right, is that man really carrying a very large carrot?
below: A grey possum with a little pink nose and a curvy tail under “Back rolls not gender roles”.
below: A collection of slaps by a variety of artists. There are two Breaking Bad yellow Lego men. The skateboarder with the black and white flowery hair is the work of Drecks. At the very bottom, a Tweet cat face with blue David Bowie style lightning bolts and a droopy eyed guy by American artist The Dtore (aka Dave)
below: One very pink eyed cat and a couple of red capped mushroom people. The latter is the work of My Cute Creatures (Creaturi Dragute) – Mama Mushroom and her little mushroom tyke.
below: Now ET can call home whenever he wants. In the bottom right corner is a tiny sticker by Vootsak aka Camille. The green eye with the tears but under a rainbow was created by Apparan. Leave no one behind.
below: A grey cat has found a handy perch atop the head of a ginger man with beard and mustache (by Stoeyes)
below: A white bird takes flight.
below: Some Australian animals – a white ibis (by Tweet) and a kangaroo with a white rabbit in its pouch. The latter is a collaboration between Maens_hh, a German artist who draws characters like the white rabbit, and Eppendorfs_finest, an artist who often draws/paints/showcases a dog called Lounis.
below: Another collection of slaps, stickers and paste ups including T-bonez of the urban ninja squadron, a common sight around Toronto. TRP613 Sailor Dude is wearing an Australia T-shirt but now has the Tweet cat face.
below: Monstrous! Now Trp613 (a Canadian from Ottawa) Sailor Dude seems to have turned green but that’s okay by MIC (Maid in Cologne). Sailor Dude may be green but that woman beside him is very red! (by Zelda Bomba from France)
below: A monster party! … With bunches of sunflowers and plenty of balloons, by Tweet
below: “Body size is morally neutral”, “Protect queer kids”, “My cat thinks you should vote yes to the voice”. “Read books and dismantle [illegible] oppression.”
below: “Think!”, “Open your mind” and “Mutual aid is an evolutionary advantage.” Cupid’s got you in his line of sight – so beware of the balloons!
below: “Read boos. Be kind. Stay weird.” as well as a sleeping good vibes cat and a seahorse with a bouquet of tulips and balloons. Like many of the animal graffiti created by Industrie Tarte, this seahorse, or lippocampe, comes comes ready to divide into sections – filet, plat de cotes, bavette, flanchet – which are all cuts of meat. . The exact same pasteup was seen in Paris in 2023 (trust, live, love, all on a Paris wall).
below: Hey cool, it’s a balloon burger with bones…. but that dog doesn’t look too impressed by it all.
below: Almost life-sized Tweet cat with a fistful of balloons.
below: What big eyes you’ve got!
below: A bright rd crab with big claws beside a prickly echidna playing with balloons. And dancing figures, le petite peuple de l’ombre, with even more balloons (by Wall-Lilo)
below: A very square and very still robot. Cookie.
below: It’s probably unfinished? Each image is a letter of the alphabet? Maybe it ends with R O E? An image search with google was not helpful so I only have questions….
With thanks to Landon who let me walk around with my camera.

Back in late October and early November 2019, one of the walls surrounding the Beiruti ESCWA (a United Nations building, Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia) building was transformed with graffiti and street art into a “Revolution Wall”. It coincided with protests against bad governance, corruption and social injustice in Lebanon. The Art of Change movement was involved in painting the wall… along with many Lebanese artist. This is only one of such walls.
below: Caricatures of Lebanese officials along with two posters. The one on the far left is by sumerziady
below: A mouse wearing a hard hat and brandishing a sword.
below: A wonderful black and rust coloured bird, by RenoZ, It doesn’t seem fazed by the mouse with the sword.
below: A monkey-faced man by Zein, a clenched fist rising out of the ground, and two green fighters in a no entry zone (or is it the Lebanese flag?).
below: Freedom, loud and clear.
below: Another Renoz painting, a skull on a chair from which a red rose is rising.
below: The man in the megaphone is signed Dewdle, the mark of Ali Kadado, a Lebanese artist. Resist.
below: I am now feeling that my lack of Arabic means that I am missing a lot of what these mean. For instance, the purple guy by Weesdom is saying something but I don’t know what. I also suspect that the words written on the tap over the young man’s mouth are important, perhaps “Revolution even if you try to silence us”? (artwork by Roula Abdo). The last one is in English but now some knowledge of Lebanese politics would be helpful – a phone screenshot by phat2tg (ot the tg posse)
below: Stencil by markghsoub aka Markus – a larger than life man standing in a shallow boat.
below: Title section, “Revolution Wall” featuring a clown with dollar signs flashing in his eyes by Ivan Debs.
below: Caricature mugshots. Lebanese government officials as Jokers as they go off to jail.
below: Another markghsoub stencil
below: Dancing while the bombs fall by Zein.
below: Giving the peace sign, a man in a red and white shirt by fasewho aka Oliver Matar (He also painted the large word ‘Freedom’ a few pictures back). The head with all the people as hair is another painting by Roula Abdo.
below: A bunch of balloons, most in the colours of the Lebanese flag by ilatk aka Ilat Knayzeh on one side, and on the right is a woman stenciled on top of a circular pattern by ZaFeelz aka Zayna Ayyad

There is an Instagram page devoted to collecting the 2019 Lebanese Art of Revolution, or Art of Thawra. Check it out if you are interested seeing more of this type of art.
People in murals and other street art seen in Bristol earlier in 2017.
