BMD is a pair of guys, Andrew and Damin, from the town of New Plymouth in New Zealand. Recently (April 2015), they painted this large mural on McDougall street in Brunswick, close to Barkly square shopping center.

faces of Adnate

While walking in Fitzroy yesterday, I saw this face of a young aboriginal man that was just painted by street artist Adnate.

part of a larger mural, a street art painting of an aboriginal young man's face with white markings on his face, newly painted by Adnate in Melbourne (Fitzroy) with orange cones in front so that people don't walk in front of it.

It is part of a larger mural painted in collaboration with street artist Serum.

newly painted mural in progress, on the side of a house, beside a sidewalk that is roped off. A face by Adnate and a bird head by serum.

below: I have seen a number of these portraits around Melbourne including this one high above Hosier Lane.  This lane is filled with graffiti and street art and it is the lane that tourists come to see.  I wonder how many of them look up far enough to see the face?

below: Back to Fitzroy where I have seen this large mural a couple of times now.  Both times, the combination of the height of the building and the location of the sun has made taking a picture of it challenging.

power people

Surrounding the CitiPower Collingwood power substation at the corner of Easey and Wellington streets is a large monochromatic mural.  It is by Juddy Roller (a company specialising in street art and graffiti management) and it involved collaboration between street artists including Rone, Adnate, Mayo, Guido Van Helton and Askew.

around Brunswick station

Brunswick station is on the Metro rail line, about a twenty minute ride north of Melbourne station.  This post represents some of the street art that I saw when I walked around the vicinity of the station.  The Upfield bike path runs parallel to the train tracks in this area.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Two large murals dominate the corner of East Ogden Ave and an alley that runs between North 7th and North 8th streets. Covering the corner of large parking garage on the north side of that corner is a very large man painted in 2014 by Spanish artist Borondo. It was painted as part of Las Vegas’s Life is Beautiful art and music festival.

Across the alley is a mural by Finton Magee also painted as part of the 2014 Life is Beautiful festival.

Two large murals on two different buildings that are across the alley from each other. On the left is a large man by Borondo and on the right is a woman reclining on a beach by Finton Magee. She is holding a purple umbrella. There are also cabbages and white rabbits in the scene.

At first glance, Magee’s mural seems to be a beach theme but then you notice the cabbages and the rabbits. She’s not lying on sand either. More cabbages and rabbits are on the other corner of the same building. And what might have been sand looks a lot like fabric. A rifle leans against the building.
